Tax Manager: Tax Managers manage client relationships and fosters firm growth through marketing efforts. Our managers analyze and review financial data as well as prepare financial statements and reports for clients. They also provide resolutions to a diverse range of problems consistent with a thorough understanding of the US Tax Code. Tax Managers have the capability to direct and review the work of Senior Accountants and Accountants, and the capacity to make sound decisions on most accounting and tax matters. When unusual circumstances arise, they present the pertinent information to the Engagement Partner for their input and follow their advice accordingly. The Tax Manager is expected to exhibit initiative, responsibility and professionalism in performing critical duties, and in the achievement of ongoing professional growth through a commitment to lifelong learning.  Tax Managers are expected to participate in community affairs.

 

Senior Accountant: Senior Accountants analyze and reviews financial data and prepare financial statements and reports for clients. They provide resolutions to a diverse range of problems consistent with a thorough understanding of accounting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Our Senior Accountants have the capability to direct and review the work of Accountants, and the capacity to make sound decisions on most accounting, auditing and tax matters. When unusual circumstances arise, they present the pertinent information to the Engagement Manager or Director for their input and follow their advice accordingly. The Senior Accountant is expected to exhibit initiative, responsibility and professionalism in performing critical duties, and in the achievement of ongoing professional growth through a commitment to lifelong learning.

Accountant: Accountants at One River CPAs assist the Managers and Directors by providing controllership, bookkeeping, and tax return preparation services for clients. This position in the firm is the foundation of our work. Individuals who fill this position will work heavily on client 1040’s during tax season and may also be expected to prepare work papers and schedules for audits or complex tax engagements. There will also be opportunities to help with non-profit returns, business returns, bookkeeping services, and more. Accountants are often intimately involved with client matters, and interact with clients. The person who fills this roll is expected to exhibit initiative, discretion, independent judgment, responsibility and professionalism in performing critical supporting duties. It is not necessary for our accountants to have a CPA license at the time of hire, but being eligible or willing to work toward eligibility is a must.

 Applicable to all positions:

Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. The ideal employee would be self-directed, organized, motivated, and have an attention to detail as well as an ability to multitask. Strong computer proficiency is needed especially with programs within Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with QuickBooks and other online accounting software is ideal.

  • Be eligible for work in the United States and must have reliable transportation.
  • Have prior experience in the preparation of corporate and personal income tax returns preferred.
  • Have one to three years of experience in a similar position is preferred.
  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree with accounting and/or finance courses is ideal.

This position, reports to the CFO and  is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a system of internal controls and audits that will ensure company assets are adequately safeguarded; development and maintenance of the company’s operational and capital budgets; and that all financial reporting, including corporate taxes, are prepared in compliance with relevant accounting standards, laws, and regulations.

Volunteer for Teens to Trails! Board Treasurer 2025

Interested in sharing your financial skills and experience with our mission of connecting Maine youth to life-changing outdoor experiences? Teens to Trails seeks a Treasurer to join our Executive Committee in January 2025 and provide inspirational and informative leadership in the financial life of our organization.

Teens to Trails was founded in 2006 and has become a widely respected organization making a positive impact on the lives of youth by sharing time outside. We work with 60+ middle and high schools across Maine and maintain strong partnerships in Maine’s outdoor recreation business community.

We prioritize great governance, and fiscal responsibility, and enjoy promoting equitable access to the outdoors.

Controller Position- Sugarloaf Resort- Year Round!

The Resort Controller oversees all accounting and financial matters for Sugarloaf Mountain Corporation, reporting to the Resort President/General Manager, and Boyne Corporate Controller. A key member of the resort’s senior team, this person prepares monthly balance sheets, profit and loss statements, capital budget reports, daily and weekly financial reports, and seasonal operating and capital budgets with the Resort President/General Manager, and senior team divisional leadership. The Resort Controller supervises local resort revenue accounting, lodging accounting, payroll, accounts payable, condominium association accounting, and general accounting team members, and is a contributing member of Boyne corporate-wide finance and accounting team.
