Connection & Advocacy

The MECPA staff and Board of Governors work with our lobbyists to protect your CPA license and to promote legislation that supports a Maine economy which enables the accounting profession and business to succeed. The efforts of the MECPA team affect your practice and career as a CPA in Maine- we are fighting for the profession and the continued value and integrity of the CPA license.

AICPA/State Society Key Person Program

Through the Key Person program, MECPA members connect with Maine’s federal legislators that have jurisdiction over bills that affect the accounting profession. Key Persons cultivate relationships with these individuals providing education and technical expertise on tax, accounting, and financial legislation.

Key Persons may also be called upon to connect with state legislators to advocate on behalf of bills of import to the profession.

The MECPA provides guidance and talking points about issues facing the profession to help Key Persons fulfill their roles most effectively.
