Work Experience Requirements
for a CPA License in Maine

Applicants must complete two years of qualifying practical experience under the direction of a Certified Public Accountant licensed by any state or territory of the United States. This experience must include the use of accounting or auditing skills, including the issuance of financial statements reports, and at least one of the following: the provision of management, financial and/or tax advisory or consulting services; the preparation of tax returns; or equivalent activities defined by the Maine Board of Accountancy.
