Full-Time | Exempt Salary: From $75,000 annually

Seeking an experienced Internal Auditor to support more than 90 parishes, schools, and cemeteries throughout Maine. This position conducts audits, evaluates financial controls and compliance, provides guidance to parish and school leaders, and helps strengthen financial stewardship across the Diocese.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Conduct financial and operational audits of parishes, schools, and cemeteries.

· Evaluate internal controls, financial processes, and compliance with diocesan policies, GAAP, and applicable regulations.

· Prepare audit reports and recommendations; monitor corrective action plans.

· Serve as a resource to parish and school business managers regarding financial practices and audit requirements.

· Assist with diocesan financial reporting, external audits, and policy development.

· Work collaboratively with diocesan leadership to promote accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.

· Five or more years of experience in public accounting, internal auditing, or nonprofit finance.

· Strong knowledge of GAAP, auditing standards, internal controls, and financial reporting.

· Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Sage Intacct experience preferred

· Ability to travel up to 50% within Maine.

· Practicing Catholic preferred.
