Description

Microsoft Excel is a powerful tool used by those working in the accounting industry, everyone from administrative support personnel to senior level managers.  Most understand Excel's basic functions, but developing a deeper level of mastery presents opportunities for increased efficiency, improved job satisfaction, colleague support and client service.   This interactive course introduces and/or reviews some of the tools specifically used by accounting departments and firms.  Ready to improve upon those spreadsheets you may have inherited from a predecessor?  Then this course is for you!

Empower participants to improve productivity, increase confidence and proficiency working in Excel to support staff and clients.

  • Sorting and Data Filtering
  • Setting up cells to restrict the type of data that can be entered, reducing data entry errors and saving data entry time
  • Formatting cells to enter numeric data efficiently, removing the need for non-numeric data like hyphens, parenthesis, etc 
  • Automating tasks with macros, saving time spent on repetitive steps
  • Retrieving data from other parts of a worksheet using VLookup and HLookup functions
  • Creating rules to format cells based on specific criteria
  • Assigning names to ranges of cells to make formulas easier to create and understand
