Taking the Uniform CPA Examination

The new CPA Exam: Core + Discipline was adopted in 2024.   All candidates take three core sections: Audit & Attestation; Financial Accounting & Reporting and Taxation & Regulations. Each candidate selects one discipline: Business Analysis & Reporting; Information Systems & Controls OR Tax Compliance & Planning. FMI:  new digital CPA Exam Booklet.

Taking the CPA Exam in Maine:

    1. Visit the Maine CPA Exam page of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy to review information for applications, fees and exam requirements
    2. Read The Candidate Bulletin before submitting an application online or through the mail
    3. Submit your application
    4. Receive your Notice to Schedule (NTS) after it’s determined you are eligible to take one or more sections of the exam and have paid all fees. This lists the sections of the exam you are approved to take.
    5. Schedule your exam with Prometric online, or by calling 1.800.580.9648
